Jem, Finally Woken
A little disappointed by Beth Orton’s last album or already bored with Dido? Then check out Jem’s Finally Woken. Much hipper and cooler than the other English-Alternative-Female-Singer-Songwriter-Folk-Pop-Meets-Electronica last offerings, one could say that this album is not actually a new sound. In fact I had mistaken Jem for Beth Orton or Dido, or even Poe (remember her? her last album was really, really good, too bad no one bought the album) when I first heard her on the radio. But all that aside, this is a solid hipster type album with plenty of good hooks and smooth lounge, head bobbing moments. Go buy this album now, get in on the ground floor before you hear this album a million times at the Gap or Starbucks.
