Extreme Female Songwriters
Bought a mess of CDs a few weeks ago, and within the stack were two albums that were like book ends on the female singer-songwriter spectrum.
Azure Ray, Hold On Love
This album by a female duo reminds me a lot of early Sarah McLachlan, but more mellow and a little less angry. Featuring mostly mid-tempo tunes, the album is filled with angelic singing and comes across with a strong feminine appeal. Light up the candles and enjoy the smoothing sounds.
Peaches, Fatherfucker
From this album title, you can already tell this one is gonna be loud and in your face. Fatherfucker features a woman that is completely uninhibited when comes to the subject of sex and want she wants. Peaches can be so raunchy that she gives Prince a run for his money. This is no feminist statement, Peaches is straight from the crotch. Music-wise, its Peaches rapping and wailing on top of old-school 80s dance music beats.
