Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

This is a great movie. Intelligently written, well-directed, and great acting, even from Jim Carrey. Of course Kate Winslett was great as usual, but then again I think she is great in everything. Charlie Kaufman is a genius, everything he writes is so original and different, but best of all his movies make you think and feel at the same time. My favorite quote as delivered by Kate Winslett’s character:

“Joel, I’m not a concept. Too many guys think I’m a concept or I complete them or I’m going to make them alive, but I’m just a fucked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind. Don’t assign me yours.”

This pretty much puts my fascination with off kilter women into perspective.

I Must Be Special, Followup

I was just informed that I have the privelege of attending my brother’s engagement party. Like I really needed permission, I had already booked the flight.

I’ve Been Pager’ed

My worst work nightmare has come true. The invisible dog collar has been placed around my neck. Yup, thats right, a two pager has been attached to me so that I can be on call for any problems 24/7. I’ll just have to find some way of accidentally dropping the pager into the toilet.

There Are Only 2 Kinds Of Office People

I’ve decided that at work there are only two kinds of people:

  1. The ones that make coffee when the coffee pot is empty or when they take the last cup
  2. The ones that wait for the magical elf to make more coffee

I’ve literally seen empty cups left underneath empty coffee dispensers.

By the way, this applies to the water cooler as well, except I have some sympathy for those too weak to lift the water bottle.

I Must Be Special

So I ask my boss’s boss for a few hours off so that I can attend my brother’s engagement party in San Francisco. He’s getting married to his long term girlfriend. It happens that the day of the party is also the Friday before our project goes live, so I am expected to spend that whole weekend at work. Anyway, I am so special that my boss’s boss must now ask her boss, the vice president in charge of the project, if I can take a few hours off (I plan to come right back on the first available flight Saturday morning). Don’t care though, I’ve already booked my flight and will be going anyway.
