My Greatness Is Finally Recognized

I’m number one, I’m number one.  After eating at In N Out for nearly 20 years I have finally achieved the number 1 spot.  Its like winning the lottery, only I don’t get millions of dollars.  My parents are so proud.

Yes! Got My Car Back

Got my car back last week and so happy to have it back.  I’ll never take it for granted again.  Its amazing how much of difference there is between the BMW and Dodge.  I can see better, the handling is way more precise, and the car actually accelerates immediately when I press on the gas.  But it looks like my arm muscles got a little lazy after driving a car with full power steering.  I’m getting a little of a work out turning the wheel on my car since its power-assisted instead of full power steering.

B Line body shop did an amazing job on the car.  Paint is matched perfectly and I cannot find any unmatched seams.  Even on super close inspection you can’t tell that the car has been in an accident.  If you are in the San Jose area and need body work done, I highly recommend B Line for the job.

Let this be a warning to all golfers out there, never go play golf in 90 degree, super-sunny weather without sunblock not matter how tough you think you are.

Car Troubles

So as I mentioned in my previous post, my car was hit within 2 hours of my arrival at my new house in San Jose. My house is near a 90 degree turn and I had parked my car in the perfect position to be hit by someone taking the turn too fast and losing control. I had originally parked my car across the street and moved it so it would be easier to unload. Then I thought about parking the car in the driveway but never got around to it. Anyway, here’s a picture of the damage after the car was put on the tow truck.

The car has been at the shop for 5 weeks now and I am hoping to get it back this week. The repair shop was recommended to me by my landlord’s brother, who also had a lot of body work done on his BMW so I am hoping it will be worth the wait. I am so sick of driving the rental car. I refuse to use the garage until I get my real car back. Every time I check in to get status they keep telling me two more weeks. But at least they sent me proof that the car is being worked on. Gotta love Silicon Valley, even the body shop uses email and digital cameras, now if they only had a web cam…..

Its Been A While

Wow, its been a while since I last posted but I have a really good excuse.  I quit Sony Pictures a month ago and moved up to San Jose for a job at Apple.  Its been a really crazy adventure moving up here and starting a new job.  My last day at Sony was on a Wednesday, the movers picked up my stuff on Thursday, I drove up on Friday and started work on Monday.  The movers didn’t deliver my stuff until a couple days after I started work so it was kinda interesting roughing it and camping out in an empty house.  Makes you realize how few things you really need to live.

The only hiccup was that my car was hit by another car while it was parked on the street in front of my new place.  I had just arrived in San Jose after driving up from LA and I had only been there for a couple of hours.  The whole left side of the car was smashed in and the the guy that hit my car took off.  All the neighbors came out and were really supportive.  One of the neighbors caught the other driver’s license plate but neither the police or the insurance were interested in catching the guy.  Worst part was that my cats were still in the car as I hadn’t unpacked it yet.  Luckily they were not harmed and I didn’t get hurt so I wasn’t too upset considering it could have been much worse.  The car is in the shop now and the insurance is covering it, but I’m so tired of driving the rental car.  Its a Dodge Avenger, makes it sound like some kind of superhero.

More on the new job and home, and the car in later posts….

Scorpion Russian Submarine

After the Star Trek show, we walked around the Queen Mary area and stumbled upon the Scorpion Russian Submarine. It looked interesting and we decided to take a look inside.

Here’s the front torpedo bay.

The torpedos were surprisingly big.

The dining room is a bit cramped.

But still better than the toilet.

If things get bad, you can always put on the escape suit and climb through the torpedo tubes.

The rest of the pictures can be found the gallery.

Star Trek!

Went to Star Trek the Tour this weekend with my friends Nick and Marcella. Here we are on the set on the original series bridge showing off our best Trek moves. The show had a lot of props and costumes from all the different Trek shows and movies. They even had a couple of simulator rides (think Star Tours) . Only odd thing was that the show was next to the Queen Mary in the dome that use to house the Spruce Goose.

Sittin’ At The Airport Feelin’ Old

So I’m sitting in the airport waiting for my flight when New Order’s Bizarre Love Triangle comes on. Can’t believe that New Order is now mainstream, easy listening, background music. Back in high school they were considered a cool band. Guess the 80s are now a novelty period just like we use to think of the 50s and 60s when I was younger.
